That there is a heavenly host is certainly true. The prophet Micah says: “I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on his right hand and on his left” (1 Kings 22:19). We may therefore refer to the heaven of angels, classified as
follows:
• cherubim (2 Sam. 22:11; Ps. 18:11 and Ezek. 10:19-22)
• seraphim (Is. 6:2)
• zóa (living creatures — Rev. 4:6-9)
• archangels (Dan. 8:16; 9:21; 12:1; Jud. 1:9)
• holy angels (Dan. 7:10).
This heavenly host of cherubim, seraphim, zoa, archangels and holy angels are all created by God. They are not eternal in their existence, but created: “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” (Col. 1:16, 17).
