Thinking about an everlasting hell, the lake of fire, is certainly one of the most terrifying thoughts. As C.S. Lewis once said: “The safest way to hell is the gradual one, the path without sudden turns, without road signs indicating that you are on your way to hell.”
The thought of a place of eternal sorrow where condemned souls in the midst of an ocean of flames plead for water, is certainly the most terrifying and horrific reality of the
universe.
How can we measure today’s overwhelming abundant living or hunger, raiment or nakedness, honour and shame, pleasure and pain, against millions of years of suffering and
sorrow of body, soul and conscience?
The mere possibility that this condition is awaiting sinners, is so shocking that nothing can be more serious than this.
